In Apples famous Think Different campaign. Steve Jobs inspired us to see the world through the eyes of the crazy ones.

This is Baba. Baba is Swahili for ‘Father.’ This man is easily one of the most inspirational people in my life because he had faith. Not just faith in God, which is probably a prerequisite to be a priest, but a deep faith in the good of mankind.

He did not play by the rules.

He didn’t break the law, he just did what was unexpected. His parish was Lupanga, Tanzania, a village that is not even on a map. No electricity. No plumbing. No hospital. It was people and the land. And struggle.

Lupanga was a place without, but that’s not what Baba saw. He saw beauty, hope, and potential.

Baba taught me to focus on what we can do as people, together. Do not focus on the impossible, focus on what is possible.

And when someone tells you NO, you move on to find your YES.

Everyday I wake up and think about the mountain in front of me. And, to be honest, I think I can not do this. Or even worse, why me?

Then I hear Baba’s voice saying…”We have work to do.”

We live in an Amazon 2 day delivery and McDonalds fast food world. Where are hungers are satiated almost immediately. But, maybe we need to be hungry. Maybe we need to want more than what Amazon can deliver.

Maybe, like Baba, we are here to make sh!t better!

This world has lost Baba, but it does not need to lose his spirit.

We need people dedicated to make the world better for the people around them, and for the people to come.

This world is better because we had Baba in it… and 8 billion people didn’t even know he existed.

That’s leadership. That’s inspiring.

We have work to do.
